The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) is responsible for administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as the Food Stamp Program. SNAP enables low-income families the ability to purchase nutritious food by providing monthly food assistance benefits. Benefits are distributed to Ohio SNAP recipients via a plastic Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
The Ohio EBT Card, also known as the Ohio Direction Card is a bank debit card that holds the monetary food assistance benefits assigned to you each month. Once your benefits are deposited into your account, you can begin using them with your Ohio Direction Card to purchase eligible food items. Items eligible to be purchased with food assistance benefits is determined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). How to Check Ohio EBT Card Balance
There are three available options for obtaining the balance on your Ohio Direction Card. We’ve listed all three options for you below. If you have any questions about how to check your Ohio EBT Card Balance, please leave those in the comments section below.
Option 1 – Check your Last Receipt
The first option for checking your Ohio Direction Card balance is to check your last receipt. This is the easiest and quickest way to locate the current balance on your Direction Card. Your balance will be listed at the bottom of your most recent grocery store or an ATM receipt. To use this method as a means for checking your Direction Card balance, please be sure to always keep your latest receipt.
Option 2 – Login to your Connect EBT Account
The second option for checking your Ohio Direction Card balance is to log in to your Connect EBT account. By logging into your Connect EBT account, you’ll be able to view your current Direction Card balance, as well as a list of recent transactions.
To log in, visit the Connect EBT website here, then enter your User ID and Password. Once logged in, you’ll be able to view your current balance and transaction history. If you do not have a Connect EBT account, you can create a User Account here.
Option 3 – Check by Phone
The last option for checking your Ohio Direction Card balance is by phone. If you want to check your EBT balance by phone, you must contact the Ohio SNAP Customer Service Help Desk. Before you call, please be sure to have your EBT card number. You must provide the agent with this information prior to receiving your Direction Card balance.
