California is the latest state to join the USDA Online Purchasing Pilot for EBT Cardholders. The change to CA Food Stamps Program provides recipients with health conditions or difficulty shopping at a store with the flexibility to purchase groceries online.

Use California EBT Card Online
As of April 28, 2020, households receiving CalFresh and CalWORKs benefits can use their EBT Card to shop online at Walmart. CalFresh food stamp recipients can also use their benefits to buy groceries online for delivery at Amazon.
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) granted this change through a waiver to expedite online EBT purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purchase Groceries Online at Walmart with CA EBT
There are two ways to shop online at Walmart with your California EBT Card – for delivery or pick-up. We will walk you through each of these in the step-by-step guide below.
How to use EBT for Walmart Grocery Delivery

Follow the steps below to shop with your EBT Card online for delivery:
1. Visit the Walmart Grocery website
To purchase groceries online with your EBT Card, you must first visit the Walmart Grocery website at www.grocery.walmart.com
2. Enter your Address
After that, enter your address to see if you are eligible for home delivery. You should enter this under the Location Delivery.
3. Determine your Delivery Eligibility
Walmart Grocery delivery is only available to select, eligible addresses. If your address is eligible, you will see a green message under your address. You will see a red message if you are not eligible at this time.
If your address is eligible for delivery, continue by clicking the “Continue” button and following the instructions below. Proceed to the next section to complete your order for pick-up if you are not eligible for delivery.
4. Add Groceries to your Cart
After confirming your address for delivery, begin adding eligible SNAP eligible food items to your cart.
5. Checkout & Choose a Pick-Up Time
When you are done shopping, click the “Checkout” button. You will be prompted to reserve a delivery time. Choose an available delivery day and time from the options. When complete, click the “Continue” button.
**Please note that someone 18 years of age or older must be available to sign for your delivery, unless the “Leave at your Door” option is selected.
6. Select EBT Card as Payment
Next, you will need to select your payment method. Click the EBT Card payment option.
7. Enter your EBT Card Information
A box will expand where you will enter your EBT Card information including first name, last name, and 19-digit EBT Card number. Click the “Save Card” button when complete.
You will be prompted to enter your 3-digit EBT Card PIN number. Enter it, then click the “Continue” button.
8. Review your Order
Review your order details including delivery date and time. Once confirmed, complete your order.
**Please know that you cannot pay for any delivery fees with your EBT Card. You must pay for these with another form of payment.
9. Receive your Walmart Grocery Delivery
Once you have received order confirmation, your Walmart grocery order will be processed and delivered on your scheduled date.

To purchase groceries online with your EBT Card, you must first visit the Walmart Grocery website at www.grocery.walmart.com.
2. Enter your Zip Code
Next, find a Walmart store near you that accepts EBT by entering your zip code. For instance, you should enter this under the Location Pick-Up section on the website.
3. Select your Walmart Pick-Up Location
A list of Walmart stores near you will be displayed. Select a store that has an “Accepts EBT” label. Then, click the “Continue” button. This is the Walmart store where you will pick-up your order.
4. Add Groceries to your Cart
After that, confirm your pick-up location and begin adding eligible SNAP food items to your cart.
5. Checkout & Choose a Pick-Up Time
When you are done shopping, click the “Checkout” button. You will be prompted to select a pick-up time. Choose an available pick-up day and time slot. When complete, click the “Continue” button.
6. Select EBT Card as Payment
Next, you will need to select your payment method. Click the EBT Card payment option.

Once you have received confirmation that your order is ready, visit your Walmart store location for pick-up. Be sure to park in the reserved pick-up parking spots marked in orange.
10. Check-in on your Walmart App
Once parked, you need to let an associate know that you have arrived. Use the Walmart Grocery App to check-in for your order pick-up. An associate will quickly retrieve your order and bring it to your car.
**Be sure to bring your EBT Card with you for Walmart grocery order pick-up. You may be asked to provide your EBT Card to receive your order. This is for verification purposes only.
