The Washington Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is a system for delivering Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to those that are eligible. SNAP, called Basic Food in Washington, helps low income people make ends meet by providing monthly benefits to buy food. Basic food benefits are based on your family size and income. You can apply for Basic Food Assistance online or at your local Community Services Office.
If you receive food assistance, you’ll be issued an EBT Card, also called a Quest Card. Your Quest Card can be used like a debit card to purchase food items at stores. You will be given a detailed booklet describing how to use your card when you are approved for benefits.
