Another popular question we see on forums and question boards is this: Is it illegal to buy food stamps from someone? As we stated in our previous post, the government has very strict guidelines on what you can and cannot buy with your EBT or Food Stamps debit card. If you do not know what you are allowed to buy, see the list below:
As you can see, the list includes food items. You are therefore NOT allowed to sell your food stamps card or your EBT Card. It is Illegal to buy one from someone. Both the buyer and seller are committing food stamps fraud and if caught could end up in jail. Also, any card holder committing fraud will not only lose their benefits but will be denied future benefits forever. This also includes going to a store and giving your food stamps card in exchange for cash which is usually less than the value on the card.
